I’ve been painting this one for a while! I struggled to finish it, but I did and here it is! :D the actual version is huuuuuuge and without compression :) my finest legend of zelda piece yet :) a lot of love went into this :)

For anyone who didn’t see it, let me tell you.

The Doctor’s a time traveler. He brought Vincent Van Gogh (who was severely depressed and lost hope in his ability and himself) to the future, to a museum where they are celebrating his art.

I don’t know if any of you are artists (drawing, writing, whatever), but being a writer, this scene moved me to tears. You’re your own worst critic, and feel like your stuff is complete shit sometimes…maybe even to the level of despair like Van Gogh. But imagine someone brought you to a world where people love and appreciate your art. Or it means something so special to them. The thought of it is overwhelming.

Overwhelming, indeed.

I think this also speaks volumes about depression. Because they even say at the end of the episode that he still committed suicide. So even if you’re one of the greatest recognized painters of all time, even if what you do changes millions of lives, it isn’t enough if you aren’t kind to yourself. So if you need help, go get it. But you still have to be wary about the people who give it, because they operate on what’s easy, not what’s best for you.
